Un bloc massif de porcelaine sèche, trouvé dans les caves de la manufacture de Porcelaine Langenthal, partiellement abandonnées, est cuit et émaillé. Dans le processus de transformation de l'agile à la porcelaine, ce matériau subit de grandes tensions et se met à fissurer sans pour autant se casser.
L'installation à hauteur des yeux et en équilibre précaire de ce cylindre de 6kg, convoque un face à face entre la pièce et le récepteur. Façonnée à l'extrudeuse industrielle, elle est marquée de trace de main de l'ouvrier qui l'a empilée en vue d'être transformée en vaisselle.
Suite à l'arrêt de la production, le bloc a été oublié à la cave et a complètement séché. Maintenant, transformé en céramique, il ne peut plus jamais devenir autre chose que ce monobloc ou encore être broyé en sable, ainsi la chaine de production est définitivement rompue.
A solid block of dry porcelain, found in the cellars of the partly abandoned Langenthal Porcelain Factory, is fired and glazed. In the process of transformation from clay to porcelain, this material undergoes great tensions and starts to crack without breaking.
The installation at eye level and in precarious equilibrium of this 6kg cylinder, invites a face to face between the piece and the receiver.
Shaped with an industrial extruder, it is marked with the handprints of the worker who stacked it in order to be transformed into crockery. After production was stopped, the block was left in the cellar and dried completely. Now, transformed into ceramic, it can never again become anything other than this mono-block or be crushed into sand, so the production line is definitively broken.
