Impressions de captures vidéo, réalisées par l’artiste, qui explorent ainsi l’espace, parfois étrange, entre l’ordinaire et l’extraordinaire. Ici, des personnes à peine visibles traversent la route, rentrent en vitesse sous la pluie, et là, passent en vélo, etc. Invités à être témoins de scènes de vie quotidienne, nous voilà tous voyeurs tranquilles, chatouillés par une intimité floue et un mouvement fugitif.
Comme la caméra obscura qui dessinait l’image inversée du décor extérieur sur le mur d’une chambre noire, camera obscura laisse entrer dans les maisons une fraction de la vie urbaine.

The table, it is well known, is a setting for fruitful exchange and conviviality. With this work of images on plates I lay out a landscape that adorns the table and invites the guests to share their stories and to transform the meal into a feast of shared exchanges. Through captured video I explore the space, sometimes strange, between the ordinary and the extraordinary. Here, barely visible characters are crossing the street quickly under the rain, and there passing on a bicycle, and so forth.
Called to be the witnesses of scenes from daily life, we tranquil viewers are thus tickled by this blurred intimacy and furtive movement. To print these scenes of urban life in the hollow of porcelain represents for me a concept of the contemporary table. Like the camera obscura technique that projects the inverted image of an object onto the wall of a dark room or chamber, I allow a slice of modern life to enter into homes. To affix an ephemeral image onto such a noble material as porcelain was of particular interest to me because of its durability.
The limited edition realized with Bernardaud permits me to give a new aspect to this project and to open it to the public at large.

Mit den auf den Tellern zu sehenden Videoausschnitten wird der Raum zwischen dem Alltäglichen und dem Aussergwöhnlichen ausgelotet. Hier eine Person, die nach Hause eilt, dort fast unsichtbare Menschen, die die Strasse überqueren und weiter weg ein Fahrradfahrer im Scheinwerferlicht, usw. Dieses Tellerset bringt ein Ausschnitt des urbanen Lebens auf die gesellschaftliche Tafel, wie dies schon seit dem 16. Jahrhundert die Camera obscura tat, die ein verkehrtes Bild des Aussen ins Innere eines schwarzen Raumes projezierte.
Die limitierte Edition wurde in Zusammenarbeit mit der französischen Porzellanmanufaktur Bernardaud entwickelt. Dadurch wurde es möglich die sonst als Einzelstücke verkauften Teller einem breiteren Publikum zugänglich zu machen.
